Peter Karetnikov, born in Moscow in 1987, is the cellist of Rusquartet. He received his first cello lessons in 1992 at the Gnessin School from professor Tonkha. From 1998 until 2005 he studied with Vera Birina and with professor Prokhorova. In 2012 he graduated from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where his teacher was Dmitry Miller. Peter won several international prizes and during his studies he performed a lot of concerts, including playing the Schumann Concerto. As member of the VITA Quartet he coached with Valentin Berlinsky, cellist/ founder of the Borodin Quartet. He also attended master classes by Mstislav Rostropovich and chamber music courses by the Danel Quartet. From 2010 Peter is principal solo-cellist of the Radio Orphey State Orchestra.
