Morgane Heyse, Franco-German coloratura soprano, is passionate about the exploration of all repertoires. From the minimalism of Cage to the exhilarating lyrical phrases of Bellini, passing through the incisive or tearful coloraturas of Handel’s heroines, Morgane travels through the genres with delight.
Fine Mozartian, she acquired at the same time a solid reputation for her nuanced interpretation of the role of the Queen of the Night; but the soprano doesn’t confine herself to the classical period: she recorded a Statue (Pygmalion, by Rameau) “clear and thrilling, infinitely alive and committed†(clasiquenews.com) with the Apotheosis Orchestra, made hers the intricate melismas of Leçons des ténèbres by Couperin, took part in reconstructions of ancient Greek music as well as in art songs, opera or jazz standards recitals.
At the opera, Morgane has performed, among others, the roles of Chef der Gepopo and Venus (Le Grand Macabre) at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin, Maid (Powder her face) at the Wiener Volksoper, Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte) in Germany, Belgium and Holland, Antigona and Pallade (respectively in Admeto and La Contesa de’ Numi at the Mars en Baroque Festival in Marseille), Aspasia (Mitridate, Re di Ponto) as understudy for Lenneke Ruiten (La Monnaie/De Munt) under the baton of Christophe Rousset, Papagena (Die Zauberflöte at the Kunsthuis Opera Vlaanderen), Nina (Il giovedì grasso) at the Armel Opera Festival 2017, Orasia (Orpheus), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Sivene (Le Cinesi), Ernestine (Mr. Choufleuri), Inès (Les Bavards), Girl (Trouble in Tahiti), Premier Esprit (Cendrillon), the Princesse and the Pastourelle (L’Enfant et les sortilèges) and Katherina Cavalieri in Amadeus, the musical adaptation of the famous film. Specializing in contemporary repertoire, the artist has taken part in many creations, giving life to the music of composers such as Helena Tulve, Benjamin Attahir and Pascal Zavaro.
Since August 2021 she is a member of the Ensemble of the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin as a coloratura soprano. Morgane also appears on the Chansons Indigo recording, bringing together the art songs of composer Jean-Pierre Peuvion (Home Records 2018) and sings the role of Makiko in the live recording of the contemporary opera Manga-Café (Maguelone 2018).
The artist won the prize for Best Interpreter at the Armel Opera Festival (2017), the role of Sofia (The Mother) at the Armel Opera Competition (2016), the third prize of the 7th Concours Lyrique International Bell’Arte (2015) and was a finalist of the 27th Concours de Chant de Clermont-Ferrand (2021).
