The Malevich Ensemble (previously Malevich Piano Quartet, together with a pianist Sofia Raychenko) has been established in a Chamber music class of prof.Henk Guittart (Schoenberg String quartet, artistic director of the Orlando Festival) at the Conservatorium Maastricht. Already after a few months of the ensemble’s existence in March 2016 during the Chamber Music Festival and Competition at the Conservatorium Maastricht the Quartet received a special prize and a concert-tour opportunity in France. The quartet had taken part in a number of prestigious festivals such as “Pianoscope” ,”Clef de la Cite”,”Piano Prestige”,Storioni Festival (and chamber music competition,where the piano quartet became a 2nd prize winner in January 2017) and Orlando festival, during which in August 2017 the ensemble had done a premiere-recording (Etcetera records) of the Piano quartet (1938) written by Oscar van Hemel (1892-1981). In November 2017 Malevich piano quartet won the 1st prize and Gnessin Artistry prize at the Taneyev Chamber music competition (Moscow-Kaluga, Russia). In June 2019 they were awarded 2nd prize (1st prize not awarded) at the 7th Chamber Music Competition in Cologne, Germany. In August 2019 a Premiere live-Recording of the 2 Piano Quartets (1959; 1968) by Hans Kox (1930-2019) had been done during the Orlando Festival concerts (10/08 and 16/08, for the Orlando CD-production, Etcetera Records ), as well as the Ensemble had been chosen to represent the Orlando Festival in a form of a Dutch-concert-tour in 2020-2021, including concerts at such venues as Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Theater Heerlen, MuziekHaven Zaandam and De Nieuwe Kerk Den Haag. In December 2021 the Malevich Ensemble had done a CD-recording of the Saint-Saëns and Taneyev piano quartets for the WDR-production (Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln) as an outstanding ensemble of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
From 2018 to 2021 the piano quartet had been studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Prof.Anthony Spiri and Prof.Harald Schoneweg (Cherubini String quartet). The Ensemble participated in master-classes with such renowned musicians as Jean-Bernard Pommier, Storioni Trio, Sam Haywood, RusQuartet, Osiris Trio, Sigiswald Kuijken, Shunske Sato and Alexander Zemtsov.
In June 2021 Georgy Voylochnikov (piano) became a new member of the Malevich Ensemble.
