LluÃs Casanova MartÃnez (Cassà de la Selva, 1994), holder of the scholarship Yamaha Music Foundation in Europe 2018, started clarinet lessons in his village at the age of eleven.
He studied his bachelor in music in ESMUC (Barcelona) with the well-known Spanish clarinettist Josep Fuster. In 2018, he successfully graduated with honours and best qualifications of his Master in Music in Conservatorium Maastricht with Roeland Hendrixk as his clarinet teacher.
During his formative period, LluÃs played with different youth orchestras in Spain (Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, for instance). In 2015 and 2016, LluÃs got the academy position in Mahler Chamber Orchestra playing around Germany with conductors such as Daniel Harding and Heinz Holliger. In 2018, he got the internship in Zuidnederland Philharmonie, playing with them around Nederland.
From then on, LluÃs has been working as a freelance musician. Based in Barcelona, he is collaborating with some of the best orchestras and chamber music projects, like Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (OBC).
From the season 2018/2019, LluÃs became member of Orquestra Simfònica Camera Musicae (Barcelona) based in Palau de la Música Catalana.
LluÃs is a founding member of Bärhof Ensemble, a chamber music ensemble set up by some players of Catalan Youth Orchestra. With Air Duo (which he took part in Orlando Festval in 2018) he got second prize in XVI International Chamber Music Competition “Ecoparque de Trasmiera†in Spain.
